Parque Diversiones Costa Rica Field Trip

This year, Max's school planned a field trip to Parque Diversiones in San Jose. We were told by everyone that there were plenty of rides for all ages so we decided to take the whole family of 2, 4 and 6 years old.  We measured Max in hopes he could ride most of the rides, but it turned out he was about 2 inches too short for the big roller coasters. Sara was a few inches too short for the medium roller coasters. Sofia was too small for everything except the toddler area. We were a bit out numbered, but we definitely plan to go back in a couple of years when Max and Sara can ride everything because it was a really awesome place. If your kids are over 4 feet tall, go, it is a blast. There were misters to keep you cool, but the glorious wind and weather of the Central Valley would have been enough, although I definitely recommend a hat and plenty of sunblock.  The kids enjoyed ice cream, cotton candy, face painting and plenty of small rides. They rode a Ferris wheel, bumper cars and some spinning spider octopus type rides. Matt rode most of them while I stood on the side with the baby, thank goodness. The small roller coaster was the highlight and the Coca-cola needle. There were giant versions of all these rides and plenty of other hair-raising roller coasters, just not on this day.  It was a great day and the best part was that we were able to bring our own lunches, fruit and jerky to keep us from being hungry, although there were plenty of eateries to take your money.  I highly recommend it if you are a roller coaster fan, and even though we were not able to participate in all the rides, we will definitely return one day when our kids are bigger. The entry fee is around 7800 ($15 US) so I recommend making sure everyone is big enough to get their moneys worth. Also, I noticed some of the other mothers of toddlers just purchased the bracelet special pass for the baby, and not for themselves. We could have saved some money doing it this way because I did not ride a single ride. We did receive some 2 x 1 vouchers that we gifted to some other blogger friends we met recently. Their kids are 8 and 11 years old and just the right height to fly through the Costa Rican skies on all the scary rides! Qoy and Isla, I can't wait to read your blog about Parque Diversiones when you get back from your stay in Nicaragua.  Pura Vida!
